Welcome! If you find yourself here, I’ve clearly made something work properly. Mirabile dictu.
So … why, you might ask, would a guy who spent 20+ years comfortably snuggled in Corporate America’s warm embrace chuck it all to go work at a startup?
Good question. And if I had a great answer, there would not be a blog post here.
I suppose the succinct version is this, though:
- At some point, all you do is go to meetings, and meetings don’t do anything but cause more meetings to happen later. It’s a vicious cycle.
- Building is better than running. Running is better than maintaining. Maintaining is better than meetings.
- The old media world that coddled me for two decades is dying. Hard to say, hard to see, hard to ignore. If your only skill in 2024 is “I write words good,” then good luck to you. Not my kind of gamble.
So I decided to take a great offer for an interesting product and see what I could help an excellent team do with it.
Will it work? It better, these kids of mine eat a lot.
Am I excited about it? Damn straight. Nothing better than making something new and watching people use it.
Do I sleep well at night? Never have, never will, not going to let that stop me now.
Anyway, thanks for reading, thanks for clicking around the site, and here’s hoping there’s more to come!
