I recently wrote about taking a chance on a new adventure. When you do that, people always want to know, “oooh, exciting, what are you doing?”
Imagine being a loudmouth blabby reporter like me and not being able to say.

But, all good things come to those who wait, and this week, we finally took the wraps off of Hedgehog.
Our mission is really pretty simple – fix social media for news.
NBD.
Ultimately, there needs to be a place where the “reasonable middle” can have open and productive conversations about important issues, and agree to disagree with people without the vitriol.
If that places also avoids the bots, trolls and jerks and offers those displaced from “traditional” social a productive community, even better.
Building Hedgehog has been an extraordinary learning experience, in part because I’m doing new things I’ve never done before.
In addition to running editorial, I’m also helping to oversee our branding, marketing and PR. I’m also managing the product team, which means I’m knee-deep in tickets and scrums and sprints and engineering reviews and all the mechanics of actually building and operating a platform.
It’s thrilling. I love it. It makes the 16-hour days worth it. (No sarcasm, not in the slightest. It’s genuinely amazing.)
We know it’s an uphill climb, but we also know someone needs to do it, and it absolutely might as well be us.
